API (as manager of the relevant joint ventures) intends to establish an independent and reliable supply of consistent quality pisolite iron ore products. For Stage 1, it is proposed that mining and processing will occur from a number of channel iron deposits located over a 60 km distance at an initial rate of 30 Mt/a. Mining and railing schedules will be coordinated in order to ensure consistent supply. A sophisticated quality control system is being developed in order to achieve shipping product grades of low variability.
