Two phases of sinter tests have been completed at the China Iron and Steel Research Institute (CISRI) in Beijing to demonstrate the performance of WPF in sinter plant feeds. Both series of tests have been based on actual blends of plants operating in China. The results are positive and suggest that API ore (WPF) could be used a levels of 10-15% in the sinter blend, with the potential for levels as high as 20-25% subject to certain plant operating parameters.
API is cooperating with Asian iron and steel makers and other Chinese university research institutions to further evaluate and understand the sintering performance and characteristics of WPF.
