There is potential for considerable growth in subsequent stages based on the prospective and extensive tenement portfolio.

API Management Pty Ltd (API) is developing the West Pilbara Iron Ore Project, a substantial greenfield iron ore project proposed for the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The project will involve mining, rail haulage and export of 30mtpa direct ship iron ore from a deepwater port at Anketell Point. Project completion is scheduled for 2013. There is potential for considerable growth in subsequent stages based on the prospective and extensive tenement portfolio. The exploration team has defined 750 million tonnes of Channel Iron and Bedded Iron mineralization to date and is aiming to increase the total resource inventory to greater than 1 billion tonnes.

We are seeking experienced Project and Exploration Geologists to join our team. Reporting to the Supervising Geologist these roles present an exciting, career defining opportunity to work within an organisation in the early stages of development, and with a successful track record in discovery. As such, candidates must demonstrate a self-managing, flexible and professional manner, well developed organisational abilities, and sound communication and interpersonal skills. Previous experience within resources (preferably iron ore) and exposure to the Pilbara region is an advantage.

You will be responsible for the geological definition and evaluation of mineral prospects, from exploration through to development. You will display leadership skills in the supervision of drilling programmes, as well as geophysical and geochemical surveys. Your strong skills in evaluation of data and preparation of reports is a critical factor in turning discovery into reality.

Key Criteria

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Between 3-5 years experience in a similar role;
  • An earth sciences degree
  • Willingness to work in a team environment;
  • Experience in iron ore exploration; and 
  • Strong leadership skills.

Senior Resource Geologist
(Perth based)

Key Criteria

  • Extensive iron ore resource modelling experience, including geostatistics, sampling, laboratory analysis and quality control
  • Sufficient experience to be appointed JORC "Competent Person" for iron ore project
  • Ability to justify, scope, schedule, cost, organise and implement resource development drilling programmes in liaison with Mine Engineers and Exploration Geologists
  • Competency in Micromine software advantageous

  • Experience planning and implementing heritage surveys
